In painting, as in many other disciplines as well, one often has to try a new idea
\nin reality to find out if it really works.
\nThis time, I want to create another portrait of St. Francis of Assisi, again
\ninspired by Alexej von Jawlensky. Yet this time, I wanted to try a method new to me —
\n— oil pastel on tempera.<\/p>\n

So, I made tempera underpaint, shown left above (click to enlarge), and then
\nworked on it with oil pastel.
\nAlas, the result was not what I expected. Oil pastel does not apply well onto
\nsmooth tempera surface. (right above)\u00a0 \u00a0< “(>_< ;;)
\nSo, I changed the plan and now I’m going to work in oil — very traditional
\n“oil on tempera.”<\/p>\n
