“Lycoris radiata” — initial sketch. The work has just begun \/ \u4e0b\u7d75\u3002\u3053\u308c\u304b\u3089\u5236\u4f5c\u3067\u3059<\/p><\/div>\n

Obviously, this is a sketch for a new painting.
\nI’m going to work on “Lycoris radiata”, a very common roadside flower
\nof September over here in Tokyo.<\/p>\n

In most of Japan, this flower is not loved by many, since
\n— it’s toxic
\n— it’s blossom falls on “higan” or Japan’s traditional counterpart of Halloween
\n(quite roughly speaking) and therefore reminds people of the dead<\/p>\n

Hey, do we have to look at other species, who share our planet,
\nwith lenses determined by some human cultural biases??<\/p>\n

So, I am trying to treat this plant as something
\n“burning and radiant.”<\/p>\n
