Just a 100-min exercise of drawing a model dozing off \/ \u30a6\u30c8\u30a6\u30c8\u3057\u3066\u3044\u308b\u30e2\u30c7\u30eb\u3055\u3093\u3092\u63cf\u304f\u3001\uff11\uff10\uff10\u5206\u30c7\u30c3\u30b5\u30f3\u4f1a\u306b\u3066<\/p><\/div>\n

On October 14, I joined a drawing session — 100 minutes of the same model, same pose.<\/p>\n

As the artists began their work, I found the model drowsing and resisting
\nMr. Sandman. Her posture kept “swaying” with her eyes closed, reopened, and closed again —
\nI talked to the floor manager and said, “Shall I get her a cup of coffee??”
\nLooks like this utterance of mine woke her up. Following that, her eyes and body
\nstayed fine and alert.<\/p>\n

Some of the artists present asked her to precisely resume the initial posture
\nbefore she dozed off.
\nI didn’t care. “Well, it’s part of a painter’s skills to process changes in the model’s
\nposture,” I said.<\/p>\n

So, in the wax pastel (crayon) painting I’ve posted here, the model
\nactually had her eyes more widely open. Yet I found her drowse
\ninteresting, so I gave this painting the “sleepy eyes.”
\nI found interesting the marginal state between “here” and “out there” —
\nAlso, I extended the model’s upper half of the body, to create a sense of
\n“going somewhere”.<\/p>\n
