Two Mothers Day cards<\/p><\/div>\n

I’ve painted two Mothers Day cards for a friend.
\nColoring pencil on post cards<\/p>\n

I know they are rather mediocre, but this time
\nI gave precedence the recipients’ ease of understanding.<\/p>\n

Here becomes evident the difference between “art activism”
\nand “commercial art” —
\n— In “commercial art,” the creator has to think first of the
\nrecipients’\u00a0 acceptance of the work.
\n— In “art activism,” I would depict a mom wailing over
\nthe dead body of her child, under bombing, say,
\nin Ukraine today.<\/p>\n

Actually, I thought of depicting the Blessed Virgin Mary
\nover the carnations, since a Christian legend says the BVM
\nwept over her son’s Crucifixion and
\ncarnation flowers emerged out of the soil wet with her tears.
\nYet this beautiful legend is known only to a few over here
\nin Japan.
\nOh, well —<\/p>\n
