Heeday’s philosophy in painting ? I openly admit I’m not a “technically good” painter!
わしお ひでき の絵画創作に関する方針 ? 私は技術的に優れた絵描きではありません！
As I’ll describe in another page of this section, “Heeday’s personal history in painting,” someday, I, Heeday, was a “late-comer” to the art of painting and have never made a technically good painter. You can tell it when you see my “Past works” in this website. My focus in painting has never been on technicalities, but on either or both of the following two things:
Spirituality
I here honestly confess I have been fascinated and influenced by the following painters, among others: Wassily Kandinsky, Paul Klee, Alexej Jawlensky, Caspar David Friedrich, Joan Miro, Matthias Grunewald, Jiro Uehara
You might find Jiro Uehara unfamiliar to you. Born in 1922 in Tokyo, Uehara was a painter of the expressionism stream with, it seemed to me, emphasis on the spiritual and the social. His paintings revealed his fierce guilt-consciousness as a Christian, which covered not just sinfulness of his own but of the human society in general. And behind his violent images lay shouts for salvation from above, at least to my eyes. And I think this direction in painting --- spiritual and socio-conscious --- is a good way to describe my attitude in painting as well! By the way, my inclination to the spiritual is also evident in musicians I appreciate: Henryk Gorecki, Olivier Messiaen, Klaus Schulze, John Coltrane, Christian Vander (Magma), Focus,Keith Emerson With the possible exception of Focus and Keith Emerson, who are renowned for their technical mastery, you see all those musicians are highly spiritual, especially John Coltrane, and Christian Vander, on whom the former sax player’s influences are decisive. As you can easily guess, I found many museums and galleries in Tokyo a sort of isolated world, while the Asian financial crisis was hitting many common people cruelly in the late 1990s. I decided to join hands with those precriats struggling to survive and make our society a less cruel place to live in, and I still do. In addition to providing my paintings and drawings to some websites tackling with social issues, I made some cheaply-printed fliers aimed at homeless people in Tokyo, a few of which are to appear in the “Past works” page someday. ワシリー カンディンスキー、パウル クレー、アレクセイ ヤウレンスキー、キャスパー ダビッド フリードリッヒ、ホアン ミロ、マチアス グルーネヴァルト、上原二郎 西洋美術の知識がいくらかおありの方なら、Die Blaue Reiter や表現主義的な流れから私が影響されていることは、すぐにお分かりでしょう。 上原二郎さんは、知らない方もいらっしゃるでしょう。1922年東京生まれの上原さんは、やはり表現主義的な系統の画家です。 彼もやはり、spiritualな次元と社会への関心で絵を描いてらっしゃったように私は見受けます。 キリスト教徒であった彼の画面からは強烈な罪責意識が読み取れますが、これは単に個人の罪というよりも人間社会全般の罪性を捉えたものです。そして彼の残虐な画面の裏には、上からの救済を求める叫びが潜んでいる ・・・ 少なくても、私にはそう見えます。 そして絵画におけるこの方向性、つまりspiritualな次元と社会への問題意識とは、私の絵画における方向性と重なるものです。 話は変わりますが、私のspiritualな傾向は、私が好む以下のミュージシャンからも窺えるでしょう。 ヘンリク ゴレスキ、オリビエ メシアン、クラウス シュルツ、ジョン コルトレーン、クリスチャン ヴァンダー（マグマ）、フォーカス、キース エマーソン フォーカスとキース エマーソンは技術的に卓越した人たちとして知られているので例外的かもしれませんが、いずれも高度にspiritualな音楽として名高い人たちです。特にジョン コルトレーンと、彼から決定的な影響を受けたクリスチャン ヴァンダーは代表格でしょう。 社会
おそらくお察しのとおり、東京のギャラリーや美術館の多くは社会から隔絶された小世界になっていました。しかし一歩外に出れば、1990年代終わりにはアジア通貨危機の寒風が多数の人たちを襲っていたのです。私は、何とか生きる道を見出し社会を少しはマシな場所にしようと努めていたプレカリアートの皆さんとともに活動することにしました。今も、そうです。 社会問題に取り組むウェブサイトに絵画を提供する以外に、安く印刷できるフライヤーを作って東京のホームレスの皆さんに配布したりもしました。その数例を、今までのデッサンやスケッチ、作品のページに今後紹介していきます。 というわけで、今までのデッサンやスケッチ、作品のページをご覧くださいませ！
