Well, I know the French word “crayon” actually means “pencil”, yet in the US a “crayon” usually refers to “wax pastel”.
And on July 29th, I joined another croquis session — as usual, 20 minutes x 6 poses.
This time, I tried what I could do with a kindergarten set of 12 colors of “crayon” — in 20 minutes! You see, I’m really into experimentations.
I swear what is shown in the photo left below was all I used — the 12-color set of crayon, an HB pencil, and some eraser rubber.
And what did I achieve after 20 minutes? Just see the photo below right.
You see, “crayons” are usable in quick, coarse croquis and sketches. Don’t let kindergartens monopolize them!
Also, at the same time, crayons are unfit to “smooth, fine texture coloring”, as I’ll show you some days later.

でもアメリカでは crayon というと、「ワックスで顔料を固めたパステル」のことですね。
で、7月29日、またクロッキー会に行ってきました。いつもどおり、20分 X 6ポーズです。
今回は、幼稚園向けのクレヨン12色セットで描きました。それと20分で、はたして何ができるのか？？ ご覧のとおり、私はどうもアレコレ実験するのが大好きなのですね。
下の左側の写真にある画材が、使ったすべてです。12色クレヨンとHBの鉛筆、練消しゴム。
で、20分で何が出来たのでしょうか？ それが、下の右側の写真です。
ご覧のとおり、荒っぽいクロッキーやスケッチなどでは、クレヨンは結構使えます。
幼稚園に独占させておくべきでは、ないですね！
ただしそれと同時に、「滑らかなテキスチャーの色面」には、不向きです。これについては、また後日紹介します。
