* I know traditional visual depictions of the “angels of the elements”
are often way more delicate and sophisticated than this, I know.

Yet think of this — if there are some invisible beings of wisdom and force
that control the elements of nature, do they look “nice and human-like”??
Are they clear to our human senses??

Rather, I think such beings are way above our perception and understanding.
Our eyes can only barely recognize them. So, I determined to make vague and coarse presentations of such beings.

* 伝統的には、「4大元素の天使」を描いた絵画の多くは、
もっとデリケートで丁寧な描き方のものであることは、存じております。

でも、よく考えてみてください。自然界の4元素を操る知恵と力ある存在が本当に
あったとしたら、「馴染みやすい、人間のような姿」などしているのでしょうか？
そもそも、我々の感覚で明確に捉えられるのでしょうか？

むしろ、そんな存在であれば、我々の認知や理解を超えているのじゃ？
我々の目では、かろうじて捉えられるだけでは？

そこで私は、おぼろげで荒々しい描き方をすることにしたのですね。

 

Hydrangea Phantasia (アジサイの幻覚）

Yes, this is messy. It’s supposed to be — since it’s a depiction of an illusion I saw when I was watching some hydrangeas closely.
確かに、ゴチャゴチャ ・・ そういう意図の作品です。アジサイの花を近くで見ていて、現れたイリュージョンを表したものですから。

Another illusion I had when looking closely at hydrangeas —
やはり、アジサイを近くから見ていた時の幻覚 ・・・

“Kal Mosa” (everything that proceeds / （口から）出るすべてのもの）

Inspired by the original Hebrew of Deuteronomy 8:3 of the Torah.
Though the common translation has “every word that proceeds —“,
the Hebrew literally says “everything that proceeds —“
旧約聖書「申命記」 ８：３ から着想をを得ました。
よくある翻訳では、「神の口から出るすべての言葉」とある
のですが、元のヘブライ語を文字通りに翻訳すると、
「神の口から出るすべてのもの」となります。

“Kal Mosa II”

Again, inspired by the original Hebrew of Deuteronomy 8:3 of the Torah.
Many things come out of a mouth — words, voices, songs, breaths, etc.
So, “Kal Mosa” needs to have a “II”!
これも、トーラー（旧約聖書）の「第2トーラー書」（申命記）８：３に由来。
口から出るものには、いろいろあります ・・ 言葉、声、歌、息、その他。
だから、”Kal Mosa” には”II” が必要になりました。

and about to speak up.
When he does, what is he going to say???

上の “St. Francis and Birds” とは違って、
ここでは同じ聖人が何やら周囲にイラつき、困っているようにも
見えますよね？
私の意図としては、この世界の悲劇を見つめ、すぐにでも声をあげよう
としている聖フランシスを描きたかったのですね。
口を開くとき、聖人はなんというのか？？
