A pomegranate has been standing for a broad range of
the saving acts — the Passion, the Resurrection, and
spread of the New Creation.
The “bloody red” juice symbolizes the blood shed
on the cross, while the bursting of the fruit and
emergence of seeds remind us of “He is risen”
and the beginning of a new creation.
The Greek on this front side, “ouk estiv hode”,
is taken from the Gospel of Luke 24: 6.
“He is not here.”
