“Taco-yaki” with Death Sauce — no thanks! / デスソース入りのたこ焼きって・・・
I know many want to see some “high art” paintings here,
but I occasionally need to make some really silly and clumsy
cartoons, though I’m not trained to create cartoons!
Sometimes, creating absurd cartoons leaves me no time
for “fine art” —
Why? I’ve been running another website, an anti-nuke
site targeted at Japanese readers.
The website carries some stuff on nuclear technology,
international relations, national defense, etc.
So, it calls for some cartoons made to what the corresponding
text says, rather than “high art” stuff.
In the example shown here, a “taco-yaki” shop is offering
some weird new kinds of the snack, including those
that contain a bit of “Death Sauce”!
To avoid a fiery tragedy in his/her mouth and body,
a customer needs to be told which one contains “Death”,
in the very beginning.
Without such foreknowledge, he/she can be doomed —
* “Taco-yaki” is a ball of shallow-fried flour containing
some ingredients, traditionally including a li’l piece of
boiled octopus. Yet nowadays, it can contain kimchi,
cheese, etc. Such balls are popular in Japan, especially
in Osaka, my birthplace.

でも。私のもう1つのサイト、「やかんをのせたら～～」
では、結構ややこしいテキストを多数取り上げているので、
話の中身に合わせた漫画が、必要になるんです。
私自身は漫画を描く訓練は受けておらず、漫画を描くと
不器用なのですがね。
ここに紹介している漫画では「デスソース」入りの
たこ焼きが ・・・ そんなもん、ホンマにあるかどうか
知りまへんけど、もしあったら ・・・
最初にどれがデスソース入りなのか教えてもらわん
ことには、うかつに食べたらドエライことになりまっせ！
物事は最初にはっきりさせておかないと、大惨事を
招く場合があるってことですね。
