言うまでもなく、反核メッセージです。
ここ2週間ほど、トリチウムとSMRに関連するproliferation risks (核兵器拡散のリスク)について調べており、忙しいです。

After hand-washing the dyed old T-shirt (below on Oct. 23),
I dried it. Here’s how it looks after the drying.
Now, I’m going to paint something on it.

古いＴシャツを染めて、手洗いしました（下の10月23日）。
その後で乾燥させた後の様子です。
これから、この上にペイントを施していきます。

Snakes are often a target of fear, but they too are part of our environment.
Especially so, when it comes to “synanthropes”, creatures that se3ttle down where humans do.
Even in central Tokyo, where I live, I sometimes see a species called “rat snake”, which is completely harmless to humans and feed on rats. They are actually quite beneficial to us,
humans, when you consider what rats can do to us.

In this wax pastel painting just begun, I am going to depict my imagination of harmless snakes being transformed into some “life forms of light”.

ヘビというと、恐怖の対象にされやすいですね。でも、彼らも我々の生きる環境の一部ではあります。
「シナントロペー」つまり人類と一緒に暮らす種のヘビであれば、なおさらそうです。
私が暮らす東京23区でも、ときに「アオダイショウ」という種のヘビを見かけます。
これは人にはまったく害のないヘビで、ネズミなどを食べます。ネズミが人類にもたらす害を考えるなら、実にありがたいヘビなのですね。

描き始めたばかりのこの作品では、私の想像を描いております。無害なヘビが
「光の生命体」に変貌していくところ、という想像ですね。

Hand-washing the dyed T-shirt / 染めたTシャツの手洗い

What!?
Here, I’m hand-washing the T-shirt dyed in random black on Oct. 14 below.
As you know, dyed clothes can discolor at its first laundry, so I must wash and dry it
before applying paint on it.
I know in this hand-washing, I do consume a little water. Still, as you see,
I’m hand-washing it so the quantity of water consumed in this washing is
insignificant compared to machine-washing.

何だこりゃ？？
この写真では、下の10月14日の投稿で紹介した、ランダム ブラックに染めた
Tシャツを手洗いしております。
ご存じのとおり、染めた衣服は最初の選択の時に色落ちすることがありますよね。
ですから、この時点でいったん手洗いをし、乾燥させてからペイントします。
この手洗いで、いくらか水を消費することになります。でも、ご覧の通り、
手洗いなので洗濯機に入れる場合と比べれば、消費する水量はずっと少ないです。

では、このシャツに何をペイントするのか、今後の投稿をお待ちくださいませ！

I seem to love imaginary landscapes (sometimes I call them “planetscapes”)
and here is the esquis of a new such landscape.

どうも私は架空の風景が好きなようで、その一部を planetscape （惑星の風景）
と呼んだりしています。
ここでお見せしているのは、新たな惑星風景のエスキース（下絵）。

Below on Oct. 7, I showed a worn-out white T shirt.
Now, I’ve dyed it in random black.

下の１０月７日に、よれよれの白いＴシャツを紹介しました。
それをランダムなブラックに染めました。

Yet what’s the meaning of all this??
Cotton reuse.
As you know, cotton farming consumes some gigantic amount of water.
“Organic” cotton consumes less, but still its H2O consumption is quite significant.
And switching to synthetic fibers generates more “micro fibers” —

So, I intend to dye and/or paint old clothes for reuse.
With the old T-shirt shown here, I plan to write a message with fabric paint.

でも、いったい何のために？
コットンのリユースです。
ご存じのように、コットンの栽培には巨大な量の水を消費します。
「オーガニック」だと水の消費量は減りますが、それでもかなり膨大な水消費です。
だからといって、合成繊維に変えると、「マイクロ ファイバー」が増えてしまいますよね。

ですから、古い衣服を染めたりペイントしたりして、リユースしたいのですね。
ここで紹介している古いTシャツの場合だと、衣類用ペイントで
この上にメッセージを書き込んでいきます。

The black dye — I did “dripping”, so used only little water in the dyeing / 使用した黒い染料。「度リッピング」で染めましたので、水はほとんど使用しておりません。
