The dyeing of the white shirt shown below on Feb. 3 is done.
As I said earlier, it was plain dyeing — without any painting.
I spread the shirt on the floor and did the dripping, in the
“Pollock style.”
下の2月3日に紹介した白いシャツの染め、完了しました。
以前にも申しましたが、染めだけです。今回は、ペインティングを
施しておりません。
床にこのシャツを広げて、「ジャクソン ポロック風に」ドリッピングを施したものです。

I know, I know that this is so scratchy — just because it IS a scratch!!
I have reworked on the first scratch shown below on February 1.
Shown here is its middle portion.
Now, I’ll start painting on it with color pencils and wax pastel (crayon).

下の2月1日に紹介したスクラッチにさらに手を加えて、これでペインティングを始められます。
ここでお見せしているのは、スクラッチの中央部。
これで、色鉛筆とワックスパステル（クレヨン）でのペインティングを始められます。
ペインティングを進めるにつれて、時折ここで紹介していきますね。

Once in a while, I simply dye some clothes, without painting on it.
With the white shirt shown here, the dyeing has just begun, and it is a case of “random dyeing.”
Somehow, it’s like Jackson Pollock’s “dripping”.

場合によって、ペインティングしないでただ染める場合もあります。
この白いシャツの場合、染めを始めたところで、一種の「ランダム染め」にしています。
どこか、ジャクソン ポロックの「ドリッピング」に似た作業ですね。

First scratch — so, it’s enigmatic! / 最初のスクラッチなので、訳が分からないですね
My current neighborhood has many farms i it, and this is the first time in my adult life to spend my days in an area like this —
At one of them, around 3 weeks ago, I saw several scarecrows lined up in a circle. Watching them, I came to an imagination of some angels, having come down to our planet, spreading seeds —
So, I’ve decided to create another new painting to depict that imagination, and here is the first scratch for it.
Please wait as I keep working on it. I know that a “first scratch” is usually simply enigmatic!! (^O ^ ;;)

私が今暮らしている地域には、まだ畑が多数残っています。大人になってからは、こんな場所に暮らすのは初めてです。
3週間ほど前、そうした畑の1つで、カカシが円を描くかのように数体並んでいるのを発見したのですね。それを見ているうちに、「数人の天使たちが地球に舞い降りて、種をまいている」空想を働かせました。
そこで、その空想を描くべく新しい絵画をもう1作描くことにいたしました。その最初のスクラッチが、これ。
最初のスクラッチなんてものは、多くの場合、見ても訳が分からないですね。(^O ^ ;;) 今後の投稿を、お待ちくださいな。

Here is a development of the first scratch shown below on January 14.
After trying several different scratches, I’ve settled down with this one.
As I said below on January 14, this new painting depicts anxiety I often notice behind “masked smiles” today.

Just as a record of something disappearing / 消えゆく物体の記録として
Again, I was searching for an object to draw, for my drawing exercise.
Alas, I couldn’t find anything interesting — yet I decided to make a quick sketch of this conventional telephone booth.
Why? Simply because it is something becoming harder to find. Pay phones are disappearing from around us. So, I wanted to draw a “record” of a pay phone booth.
やはりデッサン練習のため、何か描くに面白いものを探していたのですが、なかなか見つかりません。そこで、この伝統的な公衆電話ブースを描くことにしたのです。
なぜ？ごく単純に、消えゆくものだからですね。公衆電話が、見つけにくくなっています。そこで、消えゆく物体の1つとして、記録しておくことにしたのでした。

Another sculpture in my neighborhood / 近所の彫刻、もう1つ
A quick sketch of another sculpture in my neighborhood.
I know it’s not a very interesting sculpture, but there are only a few sculptures and objects around here.
I’m not complaining about the “cultural standard” of my current neighborhood. The solution is plain and simple: I should move out!
So, I sure hope to move into a new neighborhood before too long.
近所にある彫刻のクイック スケッチ、もう１つ。
あまり面白い彫刻ではないのですが、どうもこの界隈は彫刻やオブジェが少ないのですよ～
別に、この地域の「文化水準」に苦情を申し上げているわけじゃ、ないのですよ。解決策は単純明確ですからね。私が、どこかに引っ越せばよいだけのことです。そんなわけで、遠からぬ将来、どこかに引っ越していきたいです。

The original vermilion parka, back / 元のヴァーミリオンのパーカ、背面
While working on new paintings and having drawing exercises of some sculptures, I also paint on clothes, when I get new ones.
Someone gave me this parka of vermilion, whose front side has, as many designed-in-Japan clothes do, some “enigmatic English” printed on it.
Shown here is its back side, which is in solid vermilion, as you see. I think I’ll paint a cross with roses on it, though I definitely have nothing to do with the “Rosenkreuz”. I just like the motif with a Latin cross with roses, like the emblem of Martin Luther.

新しい絵画を進め、彫刻のデッサン練習もしながら、新しい衣類が手に入ると衣服ペイントもやっております。
このヴァーミリオンのパーカをある方からいただきました。前面には、日本でデザインした衣類にありがちな「意味不明英語」がプリントしてあります。
ここで示しているのは背面です。全面ヴァーミリオン一色ですね。ここに、クロスとバラというモチーフを描こうと思います。「バラ十字」とかとは、私はまったく何の関係もないのですが。ラテンクロスにバラというモチーフを、単純に好きなのですね。マルティン ルターの紋章も、そうでしたよね。
