So, I’ve resumed my painting after all the calamity I mentioned in the post below.
I am starting over with felt-tip marker pointillism, since it takes a lot of work, fine tuning,
color harmonizing, etc.
I’ve been working on some imaginary flowers, and here is Stage 1 of that.

すぐ下の投稿で言及したように、ひどい経験をしましたが、立ち直って
絵画創作を再開しております。
マーカー点描から再開することにしました。点描だと、作業も多いですし細かい描出、
色彩の計算などあれこれ要求されるからですね。

Apology for my long absence from this website —
Late this February, another round of calamity hit me, and I lost my home, address,
PC, Internet connection, etc.
Now, nearly three months have passed, and I’m back!

The subtleties of wax pastel and color pencil colors are hard to capture
with a camera or a scanner.
I’ve added some more layers of such colors, and I hope by now you see what this painting, still in progress, is about.

I’ve begun the coloring of “Angels sowing the seeds of light”, whose scratches are shown below on February 5 and earlier.
As you see, my smartphone camera is not good enough to capture the subtle colors of this stage. My scanner works better, but it’s not large enough to cover the whole of the picture. Oh, my —
This painting has a long way to go, as you can easily tell, before it is finished.

Angels sowing the seeds of lightのスクラッチは、下の2月5日およびそれ以前に紹介しましたが、その色付けを始めたところです。
ご覧のとおり、私のスマートフォンのカメラでは微妙な色合いを捉えきれません。スキャナーだと色はましなのですが、絵の全体をカバーできません。やれやれ～～
完成まで、かなり日数がかかりそうです。

I know this is ugly, and I mean it to be that way.
Masked smiles are something we see everyday, amid the current pandemic. I often notice some anxiety, or even fear, behind such a smile.
So, I’ve decided to paint such a smile — the work should go on for some time to come.

醜悪な画像ですが、醜悪さを描こうと意図したものです。
マスクの下のスマイルは、子のパンデミックのただなかにあって、我々が日々、目にするものですよね。で、私はそうしたスマイルの裏に何らかの不安や恐れを感じることが少なくないのですよ。
そこで、そうしたスマイルを描くことにしました。作業は、しばらく続きます。

Just a 20-min croquis with a ball-point pen / 単なる20分クロッキー、ボールペン
So, I made this 20-min croquis (quick drawing), with a ball-point pen, of a quite common statue — a kind you expect to find at a public park. And yes, I found it at such a park.
Yet why am I drawing such a “visual cliche”??
The reason is plain and simple — the current pandemic.
As you know, it is not recommended presently for 20+something artists to get together in a single studio! So, I cannot join a croquis session for now.
So, instead of drawing a live human model, when I find a statue or an artistic object, I make a quick drawing of it.
Let’s pray we will get over this pandemic soon!

ご覧のとおり、ありふれた彫刻のボールペンでの20分クロッキー（速写画）です。公共の公園にありそうな彫刻ですし、実際にそんな公園で見つけたものです。でも、なんでそんな彫刻のクロッキーを？？
理由は簡単で、現在のコロナ騒ぎです。
1つのアトリエに20人以上の絵描きが集まることは、現時点では推奨されないからですね。今のところ、クロッキー会などに参加できないのですよ。
そこで今のところは、人体クロッキーなどのモデルさんを描くのではなく、彫刻やオブジェなどを見つけると、そのクロッキーを描いているわけです。
現在のパンデミックが早く終息することを祈りましょう！
