I think this is “close to the edge” in painting something “coarse and rough” with crayon, so it’s close to the finish.
Obviously, the painting’s focus is on the homeless person in the lower left, who is “excommunicated” —

これで、クレヨンで何かを「激しく、荒々しく描く」ということの限界に近づいたように思います。ですから、完成も間近でしょう。
言うまでもなく、絵画の焦点は左下隅のホームレスの人物にあります。明らかにexcommunicate（コミュニケーションから除外）されていますよね。

I’m currently working on some sketches for a no-nuke poster of an Anglican Church organization.
I plan to make five of them in all, and on September 13, I got two sketches done.

I joined another croquis session on September 9. As usual, 20-min x 6 poses.
This time, I worked with wax pastel (crayon) during the 20 minutes. and later added a background with oil pastel in 10 minutes or so.

Shown here is one pose + background from Sept. 9.

9月9日にもクロッキー会に行ってきました。いつもどおり、20分 x 6ポーズ。
今回は、20分のポーズ中はワックスパステル（クレヨン）を使い、後でオイルパステルの
背景を10分前後で加えました。

Below on August 19, I posted an experiment with “crayon” or wax pastel, by which I found out that crayon is not good for making smooth color gradations.
Yet I like the original 20-minute croquis shown below.

So, I have begun working on a new project based on the same croquis but with a different medium this time that is nice with smooth gradations — oil pastel. It is only just begun, and shown here is the outline only.

下の8月19日、「クレヨン」での実験をお見せしました。その結果、クレヨンは滑らかな色のグラデーションには不向きなことが分かりました。
でも、元になった20分クロッキーも下にお見せしますが、それは気に入っています。

そこで、このクロッキーを元に新しい作品を描き始めました。ただし今回は、グラデーションに向いた画材、つまりオイルパステルです。まだ、輪郭を描き始めたばかり。

So, I joined another croquis session on August 26 — as usual, 20 minutes x 6 poses.

The model, I painted in the 20 minutes.
Then, later, I added the background.

The model’s pose carried an atmosphere of “standing tall”,
so a background that is “straight and strong” was called for, I thought.

8月26日にもクロッキー会に参加しました。いつもどおり、20分 x 6ポーズです。

モデルさん自体は、20分でペイントしました。
後で背景を描いたのです。

モデルさんのポーズには、「しっかり、まっすぐ立つ」という感触が。
そこで、背景も「まっすぐ、力強く」という感じが要求されると思ったのですね。

Dear friends,
I, Heeday, have been calling my own painting workshop (atelier) “Atelier anastasia” for years — then, recently, I found out there is a cosmetic brand carrying the same name!
Though the cosmetic brand sent me no complaint so far, I do not like carrying a name that might confuse people.
So, today, August 30th, 2018, I have changed my atelier’s name to “Heeday Francis” plain and simple!
It’s only a name change — nothing else changed.

I thought about what to do with the name over the last week — this should explain the absence of my new posts during the week.

みなさま、
私（Heeday）は今まで、自分のアトリエのことをAtelier anastasia（アトリエ あなすたーしゃ）と呼んできましたが、同じ名称のコスメティクス ブランドが存在していることを、最近発見しました。
そのブランドさんからは、今までのところ、何の苦情も来てはいないのですが、読む人が混乱するかもしれない名称を使うのを私は好まないので、アトリエの名前を変更しました。
本日2018年8月30日、名称を単純に Heeday Francis （ヒデ フランシス） に変更しました。
名称だけの変更で、他には変更はございません。

この新名称をアレコレ検討していたので、この1週間ほど新規投稿ができませんでした。

So, as I said just below, I found it quite hard to create smooth color gradations with “crayons”. So, I decided to use them in works that are “wild and coarse”.
Now, I wanted a work in progress, “Excommunicated II”, to be just like that — coarse and chaotic. So, why not use crayons in it?
(For my first version of “Excommunicated”, just click “Works – Social issues” in the black menu above. Currently, it is the seventh one from the bottom of that page.)

So, here is Stage 2 of it.

すぐ下で申し上げたように、クレヨンではスムーズな色のグラデーションを作るのが大変困難です。
そこで、クレヨンは「荒々しい」作品に使うことに決めました。
で、制作中の作品「Excommunicated II」は、まさしく荒っぽく混沌としたものにしたかったのです。なら、クレヨンを使いましょう！
