When the calamity hit me harshly late February, I lost the first version of this painting.
So, now, I’ve started it over, with oil pastel, as a “rehab exercise” with the medium.

If you are in the English-speaking world, please remember that,
while countries like the US and the UK have been vaccinating their citizens successfully,
here in Japan the vaccination has only just begun.
Alas, therefore, over here  “COVID nervousness” is still lingering —
This “rehab exercise” is at the same time a depiction of Japan’s current social atmosphere.

2月下旬に大変な体験をしたとき、この絵画も失ってしまいました。
そこで、これからやり直しです。オイルパステルでの描画感覚を取り戻す練習ですね。

無論、コロナ ウイルスに対する不安を裏に秘めた微笑を描いたもので、現時点の
日本社会の雰囲気を描いたものですね。

between the two.

So, I’ve resumed my painting after all the calamity I mentioned in the post below.

I am starting over with felt-tip marker pointillism, since it takes a lot of work, fine tuning,
color harmonizing, etc.

I’ve been working on some imaginary flowers, and here is Stage 1 of that.

すぐ下の投稿で言及したように、ひどい経験をしましたが、立ち直って
絵画創作を再開しております。

マーカー点描から再開することにしました。点描だと、作業も多いですし細かい描出、
色彩の計算などあれこれ要求されるからですね。

Apology for my long absence from this website —
Late this February, another round of calamity hit me, and I lost my home, address,
PC, Internet connection, etc.
Now, nearly three months have passed, and I’m back!
I’ve got a new PC, which features a lot better CPU than the lost one did, and

しばらくご無沙汰してしまい、お詫び申し上げます。
この2月下旬、新たな災難が降ってかかりまして、居住地も住所も、

3か月近く経過して、戻ってまいりました。

The subtleties of wax pastel and color pencil colors are hard to capture
with a camera or a scanner.
I’ve added some more layers of such colors, and I hope by now you see what this painting, still in progress, is about.

ワックスパステルと色鉛筆という微妙な色合いは、カメラやスキャナーで捉えにくいものです。
前回から、さらに色の層を加えました。これで、何の絵なのかお分かりいただけると思うのですが ・・・

You see, I meant this painting to depict an ugly aspect of our society today.
