Beginning in the UK, now there are many people wearing a “safety pin” to show they welcome the mistreated and oppressed — refugees, LGBT people, challenged, ethnic minorities, etc. Just look at http://www.nytimes.com/2016/11/14/fashion/safety-pin-ally-activism.html?_r=0 for example.
Now, I’ve been wearing a big safety pin myself, but often the message is not clear — “Is it just left over there, after removing a name tag? Or is it there to hold the clothes together?”
So, I’ve made this “PAX” safety pin, first for myself. “PAX” is the Latin for “peace.”
With “PAX” explicitly hanging there, no one will think the pin is left over there after removing a name tag!!

While I work on beaded accessories as well, I keep experimenting with felt-tip marker pointillism.
Another weakness I have found in pointillism is that the resulting colors are so tender and mild the created image too is often very gentle and soft — and thus unfit to carry those emotions like worries, fears, anxieties, etc.
So, I tried presenting uncertainty / worry with the technique. I hope I have made it OK.

Basically I’m a painter, so many of the posts here are paintings and drawings.
Still, I make made-to-order bead accessories as well.
Here is a pendant top designed and made to an order from a certain customer —

こちらは、あるお客様からのご注文で作成した、ペンダント トップ。
A “broad” cross of blue and white
“Felt-tip marker pointillism” has its weakness — for one thing, since the resulting colors are usually very tender and mild, it is quite tough to obtain strong chiaroscuro (contrast of dark and bright).
Thus, in the experiment below, I tried to achieve the best chiaroscuro I could — maybe, still weak….

マーカーの点描にも、独自の弱点というものがあります。その1つとして、得られる色が淡くやさしいだけに、キアロスクーロ（明暗の対比）が出しにくいのですね。
そこでこの例では、可能な限りのキアロスクーロを得ようとしたのですが … でも、まだ弱いかな？？

In the piece below, as you can easily tell, the body itself is almost empty. Usually, in a human body drawing (dessin), the artist makes the body “stuffed” and the background is simply left unattended or arranged to let the motif (the body) stand out.
Here, I went the other way round — the space full of dots create the body out of emptiness. The space creates the object. In a way, the body exists in its absence.

下のデッサンでは、ご覧のとおり人体そのものは、ほとんど空虚です。大抵の人体デッサンでは、身体にいろいろ描き込み、背景は無視されるか、身体を目立たせるような背景になります。
ここでは、その逆をやっています。点に満ちた空間が、空虚から身体を造り出しています。空間が、物体を作る。。ある意味で、身体は不在の中に存在して ・・・
無からの創造？？

As you know well, pointilism usually results in tranquility of sensitive texture.
So, how can I create the sense of movements, confusion, uneasiness, etc., with the technique?? I’ll work on this issue for a while.
