以前から投稿したかったパステルスケッチですが、投稿する機会がなかったものです。

みなさま、
本ウェブサイトの問題が直りました。画像も普段どおり、投稿できます。

そして下の写真ですが、クリスマスツリーのそばに小さな女の子がいますね。それは、そのとおり。でも、覚えておいてほしいのは、この女の子ムスリム（イスラム教徒）なのです。

この写真からお分かりのように、このムスリムの女の子は、ムスリムだけでなくキリスト教徒とも一緒に、平和に暮らしているのですね。中東の某所です。（この女の子の名前と住所は、公開しません。本人の特定を避けるためですね）
さらにこの子は、東京のキリスト教徒何人かとも、平和に生きています … 私自身も含めて。有志がフォスターペアレントのグループを組んで、この女の子を経済的に支援しており、もう何年かになるんです。彼女の養育費や学校の費用を送金するだけでなく、私は自分が作るビーズのアクセサリーも、時折この子に送っております。
今回は、ビーズのリングを送りました。写真で、この子の右手人差し指にありますね。主なモチーフであるライトブルーのハートが、写真では実物より大きく見えますね。

ある方が私を、このフォスターペアレントのグループに誘ってくださったのですが、そのとき私は、故意にムスリムの子供を選んだのです。現在の世界にあって、キリスト教徒の私がムスリムの娘をフォスターすることに、大きな意味があると考えたからですね。無論、彼女のムスリムとしての信仰を尊重してのフォスタリングです。改宗など、一切願っていません。

私がここで何を言いたいのか、もうお分かりと思います。つまり、無数のキリスト教徒は、ムスリムの皆さんと兄弟姉妹として、平和にともに暮らしたいのですね。同じ「アブラハムの神」に仕える兄弟姉妹として。もし、これをお読みのあなたがムスリムでいらっしゃるのなら、ぜひ忘れないでいてほしいのですが、数えきれないほど多数のキリスト教徒は、あなたのムスリムとしての信仰を尊重し、兄弟姉妹として、あなたと平和に生きていきたいと願っております。どうか、ドナルド トランプのような人物が「典型的な」キリスト教徒だとは、思わないでください。また、一部のテロリスト集団が説いている「憎悪の終末論」に騙されないでください。我らの神は、この世界の救いを成し遂げるのに、武器など必要とされないのですから。

マタイ福音書の ６：１－４にならい、特に必要がない限り、こうした「善行」については、私は通常は人前で話しません。しかし現在の世界状況の中では、ここで平和を祈ることにも意味がありましょう。

もちろん、「アトリエ あなすたーしゃ」は私の営利目的のちっちゃなビジネスです。しかし、営利以外の目的でアクセサリーを作る場合もございます。昔の英語では、saying my beads というと、「祈る」という意味になります。文字どおり、私は平和を求めて saying my beads していることも、あるわけですね。

Somewhere in the Middle East

Now, the photo below — A little girl beside a Christmas tree, yes. Yet please note she is a Muslim.
This photo implies this Muslim girl is living in peace with some Christians (and Muslims as well, of course), somewhere in the Middle East. (I will withhold her name and residence to disable anyone from identifying her.)
She is also living in peace with some Christians in Tokyo as well — including myself. We, the fostering parents, have been financially supporting this girl for years now. In addition to sending her money for her education and living, I send her beaded accessories I make.
This time, I sent her a ring of beads, as you see in the photo (her right index finger). The ring’s major motif, a heart in light blue, looms larger here than it actually is.

When someone invited me into the fostering group, I intentionally chose a Muslim child.
I did believe it should be quite meaningful for a Christian to foster a Muslim daughter, in our world today, with her Muslim faith respected (NO proselytizing. Her faith is respected!)
Yes, the message is plain to see — countless Christians yearn to live in peace with Muslims as their brothers / sisters in the *God of Abraham.” If you are a Muslim, please keep this plain fact in mind — countless Christians respect your faith and live in peace with you as their brother / sister. Please do not think people like Donald Trump are “typical” Christians. Please do not be fooled by an absurd “eschatology of hatred” spread by some terrorist groups. Our God does not need any weapon to accomplish the salvation of our world.

I usually do not talk about “good work” like this in public, following Matthew 6:1-4. Yet in our world today, I intend to call for peace here.

Needless to say, “Atelier anastasia” is my little business for profits, yet I do make some accessories for non-profit purposes as well. Literally, I’m “saying my beads” for peace!

I know this sounds really silly, but I was supposed to make my annual payment to my web hosting provider by Dec 21, but so busy with work I was unable to got to a neighborhood ATM! So, this “anastasia” website was inaccessible during a couple of days earlier this week.
Now, I’ve made the payment and it is back!

Below is another 20-min croquis (quick drawing) from the Dec. 20 croquis session. This is just a “plain” croquis and nothing much. As described below on Dec 20, this time the model was a very slim woman. Very often, a very slim female body with a “feminine” pelvis in it creates very beautiful curves around the waist and the buttocks.So, it was very lucky for me that the model turned her back on me in this pose. So, I just drew it quite plainly.

実に馬鹿げた話なのは分かっておりますが、この「あなすたーしゃ」ウェブサイトのウェブホスティング プロバイダーに、12月21日までに年間費用を振り込まないといけなかったのです。ところが。。そのころ、仕事の納期に追われていて近所のATMに行く時間さえ、ありませんでした。そのため、今週の一時、このウェブサイトはロックされていました。
支払いを済ませたので、戻ってきたわけですね。

下のクロッキーも、20日のクロッキー会から。これは、まあ「ありきたりな」クロッキーにとどめています。特に、申し上げることもないほどに。下で12月20日に記しましたように、今回のモデルさんは大変スリムな方でした。で、大変スリムな女性の身体であっても、骨盤はそれなりに広いため、ウェストからお尻にかけてのカーブが大変美しくなることが、よくございます。私にとっては大変ラッキーなことに、このポーズではモデルさんが私に背を向けてくれたので、「そのまんま」描いた次第です。

Quite plain —

Today, I joined another 20-min x 6-pose croquis session, and — no insult intended here — the model today was a very lean person. Her body inspired me a certain direction of painting. A naked body can be seen as something exposed to danger, threat, pressure, etc. Of course, I do not mean to say today’s model was victimized by any of those cruelties. I’m talking about the direction of painting her body — a socio-conscious direction.

As you see in the croquis left below, without deformation, the model was healthy and a very good. A direction of painting is often irrelevant of how the modeling person actually is. 
So, I made the right below one, with ball-point pens. I know many of you do not appreciate this one. Yet this is just an idea sketch. I hope to develop it into a full painting someday. 

Above, I said a naked body can be seen as something exposed to danger, threat, pressure, etc. This is often one of the directions I follow in painting a naked body. And this time, I think it will work fine.

また、20分 X 6ポーズのクロッキー会に行ってきました。今日のモデルさんは、大変痩せた方でした ・・・ 悪意や侮辱は、まったくありませんよ！そうではなく、モデルさんのやせた体を見ていて、インスピレーションを受けました。痩せた身体というものは、何らかの犠牲、社会的圧力、虐待などを示唆する場合があります。いえ、そのモデルさんがそうだというわけじゃ、まったくないですよ。でも、そうした方向に描いていけると、彼女の身体を見ていた思ったのです。今日のクロッキーからは、社会意識の強い作品が生まれそうです。

左下のデフォルメのない画像でお分かりのように、モデルさんはとっても健康な方で、優れたモデルさんでした。そしてその細さが、私には社会的圧力に削り取られる身体をインスパイアーしたのです。
そこで、右下のボールペンのクロッキーを描きました。これは、多くの方々にとっては、わけのわからぬものであることは、重々理解しております。単なるアイデアのスケッチですから。いずれ、フルの絵画にしたいと思います。

裸体というものを描くとき、危険にさらされた脆い存在として描くという方向性があります。私は時折、その方向性で裸体を描きます。今回は、この方向性が適切だと思えるのですね。

Following up on my post on croquis below, here is a drawing that took more time. As you see, it is less rigid than the 20-minute croquis below — this one took 40 minutes.
In a sense, at least to me, 20 minutes is “not long enough, nor short enough” — every painter has his/her “time length.”

下でのクロッキーに関する投稿に続けて、こちらはもっと時間をかけたデッサンです。ご覧のとおり、下の20分クロッキーに比べると、硬さが和らいでいます。こちらは、40分でしたので。私にとっては、20分というのはどこか中途半端なのですね。絵描き一人一人に、適した時間というものがあります。

「クロッキー（速写画）会」なんてものが、そもそも、何のためにあるのか？ そう、いぶかってらっしゃる方々もいらっしゃるかもしれませんね。「もっと時間をかけて、”きめ細かい” 絵を描いたら、どうなんだ？」
すぐに分かる理由としては、
– モデルさんが同じポーズを続けられる時間は、極めて限られる
– だから、絵描きはそのモデルの主な「特徴」を、その短い時間でまず把握しないといけない。姿勢や筋肉の凹凸、醸し出している雰囲気など。

さらに、
下の2枚のクロッキーでお分かりのように、「正確な」デッサンというものはガチガチになってしまう場合があります（左）。対して、5分間という無茶な時間制約が、何らかの「ぼやけた創造性」を作り出すことがあります［右］。
左右とも、ずっと以前に私が描いたもので、同じモデルさんです。

左は20分で、精確ですが極めてガチガチですね。このモデルさんがどんな姿だったのかが分かる ・・・ それだけです。
（まあ、場合によっては、そうしたガチガチさが必要になることもあるのですが。。たとえば、カメラ / 携帯電話が壊れたのだが、何かの精確な画像が必要な場合とか）
右は５分クロッキーで、極めて荒っぽく大ざっぱですが、何らかの想像を見る方に引き起こしますね。描いたアーティスト自身も、そうした想像をもとに、フルの絵画を創作できます。

20 minutes

5 minutes, same model

Some of you might have been wondering why there are “croquis” sessions at all — why not take a longer time and make “finer” drawings?
Obviously,
– a human model can remain in the same pose only for a quite limited duration of time.
– so, an artist needs to grasp the major “features” of the model — the posture, the muscles’ ups and downs, the atmosphere created, etc. — during that limited duration.

Besides,
please note in the two croquis shown below that “precise” drawing can result in something quite rigid while a a 5-minute limitation can create some “blurred excitements.”
I made both years ago, of the same model.

The left one, 20 minutes, is precise yet quite rigid. It just describes what the model looked like. (though such precise description is sometime necessary — think of when your camera/cell phone goes bizarre yet you want to make a precise graphic image of something, for instance)
The right one, 5 minutes, is quite rough and blurred, yet creates some imagination in the viewer. And the artist him/herself can develop such imagination into a full painting.
