As shown below, at the croquis (quick drawing) sessions I attend, I’ve been experimenting with “felt-tip marker pointilism” recently.
Now, the time specified at the sessions for each pose, 20 minutes, is too short for pointilism to say something.
So, after a croquis session, I work further on the six quick drawings I have made at the session and turn them into full experiments of “felt-tip marker pointilism”.
Here is one such experiment.

下でここまでお見せしてきたように、クロッキー（速写画）会では最近、「マーカーでの点描」の実験をしております。
どうも点描というのは時間がかかりまして、各ポーズの時間20分では、点描として何かを訴えられるところまで出来上がりません。
そこで、クロッキー会の後で、自分のクロッキーにさらに手を加え、「マーカーでの点描」として何か感じられる画面にしています。
そうした実験の1つ。

Below, on Sept 24, I posted a signboard I created for a neighborhood church. There is another place for such a sign, so I am now working on another sign for the same church.

Sorry, I could not take a “straight” photo of the straight sign. I only have a cheap camera.

Here is another experiment with random lines of a ball-point pen and oil pastel on paper, from the 20-min x 6-pose croquis (quick drawing) session of October 10th.

Again I prepared a sheet of paper by drawing some lines on it with a multi-color ball-point pen. Then, at the venue, I worked with oil pastel.
I like this one, to be honest. The model created some “lost in an enigma” atmosphere, and I hope this experiment carries that atmosphere.

やはり10月10日の20分 x 6ポーズのクロッキー（速写画）会から。やはり、多色ボールペンで「プリペアー」した紙に、オイルパステル。

これも、予め多色ボールペンで紙にランダムな線を描いておき、会場ではその紙にオイルパステルで描いたもの。
自分自身では、気に入っています。モデルさんが「謎のなかに不確かに浮かんでいる」ような感じを醸し出していたので、それをうまく表せたていれば、幸いです。

As you see, this is a work just begun — to be hand-dyed further and then hand-painted.
I’ll post more photos as the work progresses.

ご覧のとおり、これは作業を始めたばかりです。これからさらに手で染め、そして手で絵を入れます。
作業の進行とともに、さらに写真をあげていきますね。

Oil pastel is not the only medium I’m experimenting with — recently, I began trying my old felt-tip markers as well. The intention?? Many consider “markers” as not the right medium for serious drawings and croquis (quick drawings), but I hope to turn the table around by finding a way to make serious “dessins” (drawings) with them.
So, I began trying them at the Oct 10 croquis session — as always, 20-minutes x 6 poses.

私が実権を繰り広げているのは、オイルパステルだけではありません。最近、古いマーカーも使ってみようと思いました。その意図は？多くの人たちは、マーカーは真剣なデッサンやクロッキー（速写画）には向かない画材だと見なしていますが、その使い方を見つけることで、常識を覆したいのですね。
そこで、10月10日のクロッキー会で、実験を始めました。いつもどおり、20分 x 5ポーズでした。

Just cheap old felt-tip markers

Yet another similar 20-min experiment from Sept. 25 — again, oil pastel on a sheet of paper prepared with random lines of a tricolor ball-point pen.
I hope this one carries the sense of a man’s body overwhelmed by some pressure from the environment — the model was creating such “trampled-ness” well.

やはり、9月25日のクロッキー（速写画）会から、20分の同様の実験をもういっちょ。これも、3色ボールペンで「プリペアー」した紙に、オイルパステルです。
このモデルさん（男性）、「周囲の何かによって踏みつけられ、圧倒されている人」という感じを良く醸し出してくれていました。それを表せていたら、幸いです。

OK, a similar 20-min experiment from Sept. 25 — oil pastel on a sheet of paper prepared with random lines of a tricolor ball-point pen.
I hope this one carries the atmosphere of  “contemplation” the model was creating well.
Random lines of a ball-point pen are effective in creating some sense of enigma, bewilderment, chaos, anxiety, contemplation, etc.}

同じく9月25日の、同様の実験を。これも、20分です。ボールペンのランダムな線で「プリペアー」した紙に、オイルパステル。
このモデルさん、「もの思い」の雰囲気をうまく醸し出してらっしゃいました。このクロッキーも、それをうまく作り出していることを願います。
ボールペンのランダムな線は、なぞや当惑、カオス、不安、もの思いといった雰囲気を描くのに有効ですね。
