Another 20-min x 6-pose croquis (quick drawing) session on Sept. 25 — this time with a male model — somehow precious, in reality.
I “prepared” a sheet of paper with tri-color ball-point pen, and at the croquis venue I painted the silhouette of the model with different colors of oil paste. Hope it creates the “depressed” mood, which the model successfully expressed with this pose.

20分 X 6ポーズのクロッキー（速写画）会がまた、9月25日にありました。今回は男性のモデルさん。現実には、男性のモデルさんは貴重ですね。
予め、3色ボールペンで紙を「プリペアー」しておき、クロッキーの現場でモデルさんのシルエットをオイルパステルで描いたわけです。このモデルさん、「陰鬱な」雰囲気をこのポーズでよく表現してらっしゃったので、それをこのクロッキーも表せていたら、幸いです。

This signboard was in the making on September 5th, as shown below.
Now it is done, and already right in front of the church.
（The photo below looks slanting —actually, the real thing is quite straight.
My camera gave the slant, and I’m not a photographer!)

Well, I’m not a photographer —

Oh, what a mess!! Yet to be honest, among the 20-minute croquis (quick drawing) I did on Sept. 11, I prefer this one to the “conservative” one shown below on Sept. 13.
With this mess, I wanted to create some “disintegration” — not “dismembering the body” (you see, the body is messy yet still in one piece) but the sense of a body decentralized and fluctuating in a messy space.
So, I heated some oil pastel with naked fire to let some drips fall on a sheet of paper. On this “prepared paper,” at the croquis venue, I drew the model with oil pastel.

なんというゴチャゴチャ！ でも正直なところ、9月11日の20分クロッキー（速写画）の中では、下の9月13日の「保守的な」ものよりも、こちらの方を私自身は好んでいます。
この「ゴチャゴチャ」では、「バラバラになっていく様子」を作りたかったのですね。とはいっても「バラバラ殺人」のような話じゃなくて （モデルさんの身体は、ご覧の通り1つのままです）、混とんとした空間の中に身体が中心を失って漂うような感じを狙ったのですね。
予め、紙の上でオイルパステルを火であぶって溶かし、ポタポタとランダムなドリップで紙に落とします。そうして作ったプリペアード ペーパーに、クロッキー会の会場で、モデルさんを描いたわけです。

Disintegration —

Another 20-min x 6-pose croquis (quick drawing) session on September 11th.
In the 20-min croquis below, I prepared in advance a sheet of paper with random horizontal lines of a tricolor ball-point pen.
Then, at the site of the croquis session, I made this rather “conservative” painting of the model. I wonder if the model is rendered “too conservative”  — so, I’ll try some other ways of painting with oil pastel on similar “prepared sheets” next time.

20分 x 6ポーズのクロッキー（速写画）会がまた、9月11日にもありました。
下の20分クロッキーでは、予め3色ボールペンの線をランダムに描いた紙を用意しておきました。
クロッキー会の現場では、その上にオイルパステルで描いたのですね。
モデルさんの描き方が、「保守的」に過ぎるかもしれませんね。なので次回は、同じような「プリペアード シート」に、別の描き方でオイルパステルを使ってみます。

Too conservative??

Currently, I’m fully occupied with a rush writing job — so, for now, something from my sketches some 20 years ago.
I have often tried to turn “very cheap” drawing media into somehow “decent” means of drawing. Here is a sketch of a human model made with “Crayola” on paper.

目下、ライティングの仕事でふさがっているので、今のところは20年ほど前のスケッチを。
どうも私は、「極めて安価な」画材をなんとか「使える」画材にする試行を時折やってしまうようです。これは、人間のモデルをCrayolaで紙に描いたもの。

There are some ways to put Crayola to effective use —

More layers of acrylic paints on the church signboard below —
After the paints have dried, I’ll work on the fine lines and edges, to straighten them out.
Then, I’ll write in the letters.

下の、教会の看板です。さらにアクリル絵の具を重ねました。
この絵の具が乾いたら、細い線やエッジを塗って、まっすぐにします。
その後、文字を書き込みます。

This is a work in progress — a signboard for a neighborhood church.
After the painting is done, I’ll write in some letters.
Notice I’ve come a long way from July 30, way below.

So, I did the painting, and here is the finished T-shirt —
This customer wants the birds only on the front and a shoulder.
