Another human model croquis (quick drawing) session today. This time, the model was a male.
Usually, oil pastel is a drawing medium lacking in detail accuracy. Also, I had only 20 minutes a pose. These two combined are a certain condition of “rough sketchiness.”
So, what one should do is to take advantage of that sketchiness — I hope I successfully did so.

今日もまた、人体クロッキー会（速写画会）がありました。今日は、モデルさんは男性。
多くの場合、オイルパステル（クレヨン、クレパス）はディテールを正確に描くには、不向きです。そしていつもどおり、１ポーズにつき20分しかありません。この2つが組み合わされば、「大雑把な画面」になるはずで。だから、その大雑把さを活かす描き方を目指しましたが、上手く行ったかどうか。

20 minutes of oil pastel

I worked with pastel on another 20-min croquis (quick drawing) from Oct. 12th.
The model successfully created an “pondering” atmosphere, so I tried to pick it up and put it in the drawing.

Light Gazing

The loops are to hold the cross to a chain. These are “broad” crosses, not ankhs.
I got two orders for the same cross pendant top shown below, and here they are!

As you see, these are made only of seed beads, with no (semi-)precious stone in them.
So, the price is easily affordable JPY1,000- plus shipping per piece*, for an order from inside Japan, in the case of this particular design. (More complicated designs can cost more.)
(In case of an order from outside Japan, please add some other order to this, to make the sum exceed JPY 6,000! The bank takes some JPY4,000- as the commission —)

This is another drawing I’ve made with a tricolor ball-point pen.
I hope you see that a simple BP pen can create some imaginative effects, such as “looking up at something” or “something coming down from above.”

これも、10月12日のクロッキー会（速写画会）での、20分クロッキーです。
これは、3色ボールペンで描きました。
単純なボールペンでも、ある程度イマジナティブな効果が出せますね。この例のように、「何かを見上げている」、あるいは「何かが高いところから降りてくる」というような。

Looking up — to see what’s coming down

I joined a human model croquis (quick drawing) session again today (12th).
Needless to say, drawing a model holding a pose in 20 minutes makes the result coarse — yet sometimes, that coarseness creates some interesting effects.
I do think this is one example of that.  I really like it, and I hope you do too.

言うまでもなく、ポーズをとっているモデルさんを20分で描くのですから、結果は荒っぽいものになります。
でも、その荒っぽさが面白い効果を生み出す場合もあります。
このクロッキーは、そんな例だと思っています。私自身は、なぜか気に入っているんです。

Green Cross Semi-Rosary, JPY3,500- if no precious stone

Usually, a 10-minute sketch is not for public display. Yet here, I am showing one to prove a ball-point pen can be useful in drawing, in some occasions.

I went to the university’s chapel to sing in chorus — as a male soprano. I arrived there a bit earlier than I expected. I had 10 minutes, but not any thing longer than that.
In a situation like this, a ball-point pen can be useful, for making a very quick sketch.

多くの場合、10分スケッチなんてものは人前に出すもんじゃ、ありません。ただここでは、ボールペンというものが描画用具として役に立つ場合もあることを示すため、あえて10分スケッチを紹介しておきます。

この大学のチャペルに行ったのは、男性ソプラノとしてコーラスで歌うためです。少し予定より早く到着したので、10分ほどだけ時間があったのですね。
こういうとき、非常にクイックなスケッチをするには、ボールペンは大変役に立つことがあります。
